In 1963, Vico Magistretti was inspired to create the iconic Eclisse lamp, thinking of a lantern, not just any one, but the one that had a central role in Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables. This was the beginning of what was to become one of Magistretti's symbolic projects: a lamp born from the meeting of three hemispheres, two of which are fixed, while the other rotates in such a way as to be able to regulate the luminous flux, offering both a direct and diffused lighting solution. The lamp is available in two versions as regards the finish: the red, yellow, white and orange are made of painted metal, while the black, silver, copper and gold are in PVD, an innovative and time-saving material.
