Description by the Gallery Owner
Marco Tamburro represents urban geography. The artist from Perugia erects a border barrier: a wall that is a chaotic cemetery of colored images, symbols, and objects of our culture. A wall that accumulates graffiti, billboards, and vintage film posters. The worn and faded remnants of the past are covered with new, eye-catching advertisements. These superimposed posters are traces of our culture.
Tamburro's collage work recalls the legacy of Mimmo Rotella. Furthermore, this multi-colored composition is enriched by violent, restless, and almost hysterical pictorial signs. The expressiveness of these signs brings Tamburro's art closer to that of Emilio Vedova.
But what is the purpose of this structure?
What do we find beyond the wall: obstacles or protection?
Are they hiding something from us?
On the summit of the barrier, a glimpse lets us glimpse the unknown: a dazzling infinity that tastes of freedom and purification.
Above the fractured wall, we notice figures in shadow: a jester, Pinocchio, a woman, and undefined human figures. Only they can reveal the mystery: what is hidden beyond? Perhaps a world far from the logic and mechanisms of our capitalist society. A new city-Eden where happiness reigns.
The boundary, therefore, seems to be a cage that encloses individuals. The goal? Conformity of thought, homogenization, media bombardment. The wall is the society that locks us inside it, and through the mass media, we are stunned by a perpetually overflowing river of images.
