ROJA
Roja is a perfumer whose fragrances are known all over the world.
For her 21st birthday he paid a visit to the Guerlain Boutique on the Champs-Elysées and there she decided that this would be her future.
In his enthusiasm for him, Roja often wrote to classic French perfumers asking for information and experience. Annoyed but impressed by Roja's interest, Robert Guerlain offered him a job and in 1981 he was hired in the Education and Public Relations Department where he began to solidify a professional understanding for the industry. He stayed with Guerlain for nearly 20 years; after a few years he was assigned the position of Global Ambassador, the first member of the non-Guerlain family to receive this role.
He was nicknamed "Professeur de Parfum".
In 2004 the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie opens on the sixth floor of Harrods in collaboration with Urban Retreat. Since opening in 2004, Haute Parfumerie has supplied perfumes from many famous and unknown brands including Tom Ford, Caron, Lalique, Xerjoff, Dior, Atelier Flou, Clive Christian and Grossmith.
Previously, in 2002, Roja joined with names like Manolo Blahnik to award Terrence Higgins Trust's annual fundraiser. The perfumer created a bespoke perfume for the highest bidder contained in a Baccarat crystal presentation bottle. In 2005, Roja drew inspiration from this event and created a range of semi-bespoke fragrances he created for Haute Parfumerie customers and these perfumes are born without bottles, names and with just enough liquid to make 50 each. From there he had the idea of creating fragrances that bore his name, in which he could create what he wanted most, leave a sort of "olfactory legacy" to the world.
