BOSA

BOSA an Italian excellence in the art of contemporary ceramics.

All objects in the Bosa Ceramics collection are entirely handmade according to the ancient techniques of working with ceramics.

In a corner of the Venetian countryside made almost fairytale by the irregular play of the hills and the path of lively streams, in a town that takes its name from the most noble and elevated mountain peak, Borso Del Grappa, has been established for a considerable time now Bosa Ceramiche, a ceramic laboratory known all over the world.

It is no coincidence that the great tradition of Bassano ceramics, the Venetian spirit of cosmopolitan culture and the pioneering attention to Asolo innovation come together in this area of the piedmont region. It was in 1976 that Italo Bosa started its ceramic production following the ancient processing techniques for entirely handmade objects, enhanced by a rich color palette, decorated with precious metals - gold, platinum, copper- and enamels with exclusive shades created by company. Precise techniques which are still the basis of Bosa's production today and which give the objects uniqueness, quality and recognisability.

In addition to expressing all the knowledge of the artisan craft, the ceramic objects and furnishing accessories created in the Bosa maison convey that incessant experimentation with the possibilities of ceramics which has among its objectives the transformation of formal and functional customs into new interpretations, new fantastic functions and worlds, a mission that Italo Bosa has been able to transfer to his daughters Francesca and Daniela, his wife and all their collaborators.

What distinguishes Bosa, making it a leading company in the field of design ceramics in Italy and in the world, is precisely having made research and innovation the company's strengths, so much so as to be able to carry out projects almost impossible due to the difficulty of the molds and the oversized dimensions, which highlight the founder's special propensity to share design adventures with the designers, mostly young people of European origin, experimenters of new languages, who have contributed to defining the high positioning of the brand Bosa.

From the initial collaboration with Marco Zanuso Jr. and the consolidated relationship with the Palomba-Serafini studio, Bosa has established friendly professional relationships with Satyendra Pakhalé, Patricia Urquiola, Marco Morosini, Manolo Bossi, Gualtiero Sacchi, Sam Baron, Luca Nichetto and a particular feeling with Jaime Hayon, creator of many joyful universes and the talented Elena Salmistraro. Equally important are the collaborations with leading companies such as Minotti, Moroso, B&B Italia, Baccarat and customized supplies for Ferrari, Escada, DeBeers and others.

Bosa is currently present in more than 50 countries around the world, not only for its reputation, brand image and product identity, but also thanks to the implementation of a punctual marketing policy that allows the company to oversee different market niches with a wide range. The distribution thus widely resolved also benefits from the substantial presence of works of art design in the most prestigious international museums, through thematic exhibitions, temporary exhibitions and bookshops that give the company continuous and beneficial visibility.

Bosa Processing

Gluing and retouching

All objects in the Bosa collection are entirely handmade according to the ancient techniques of working with ceramics. The molds used are in plaster to allow formal and meticulous control of the project. Once the piece has been separated from the mold, the object is cleaned and finished by hand, taking care of all the smallest details, and when it is dry it can be baked in the oven.

Cooking

Once the drying phase is finished, the piece will be put into the oven for the first cooking, obtaining the biscuit. Subsequently there will be several firings for the vitrification of the enamel and for the retouching of the imperfections until reaching the maximum quality of the product. The objects decorated with gold, platinum or copper are further fired after vitrification, to melt the precious metal with the enamel.

Enamelling

The enamels, which allow the vitrification of the object, are mixed and composed within our laboratory and this is why the color range is exclusive to Bosa. Each piece, after the first firing, is immersed in tanks containing liquid glaze and will subsequently be cleaned of any drops or imperfections. The enamel is not applied on the base of the object to avoid its melting with the oven plates.

Decorations

The decorations are performed by brush by masters of maximum precision and experience. The noble and precious metals such as gold, platinum, copper and their ranges, applied with the brush, melt together with the enamel during the cooking process which, brought to 720 °, guarantees the authenticity of the material and its durability over time.

Colors

All the products in the catalog can be requested with the shades present in the color card, however the exact tone of the glaze must be checked with the ceramic color samples. In the different objects, the same shade may show small differences in color intensity, especially related to different shapes and volumes or due to minimal variations in the cooking temperature. It is these different characteristics that make each piece unique.
