In 2017, Baleri Italia began a brand relaunch process under the new art direction of Aldo Parisotto from P+F Architetti. The aim is to bring the company and its collections up to date and the first step is rediscovering and championing its founding principles. Ever since it was established in 1984, Baleri Italia has been renowned for its consistency, irony, light-heartedness, versatility, functionality and uniqueness, along with its ongoing technological experimentation. They are part of the brand’s identity as a manufacturer of high-quality, design-oriented furnishings. Baleri Italia was founded in 1984 by Enrico Baleri and Marilisa Decimo. Due to the design philosophy behind the company, from the very beginning it created products with strong forms and functions, while showing constant dedication to research and development: these activities led to ceaseless technological experimentation, innovative use of materials and the discovery of emerging talents. As well as working in partnership with established designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Angelo Mangiarotti and Denis Santachiara, Baleri Italia helped to launch a range of up-and-coming names, including Philippe Starck, Hannes Wettstein and Luigi Baroli. In 2004 Nino Cerruti acquired a majority stake in the company with the goal of embarking on an industrial project that would benefit from his extensive, successful experience in the textiles and fashion industries. This process soon led to a full acquisition of the company and the formation of a new management group, with a new art director and an overhauled in-house team. Research into form and function continued to be the main focus of the company in the following years, as demonstrated by the products presented from 2005 onwards, which introduced the designs of fresh talents such as Jeff Miller, Arik Levy, Alberto Colzani and Xavier Lust. In 2009, the company was renamed Cerruti Baleri. This natural step helped to underline the sense of continuity and evolution that had prevailed since 2004 and from that point on would have more and more of a profound impact. More than just a manufacturer, Cerruti Baleri considered itself a “furniture house”. Consequently, in 2010 it complemented its collections with the “Editions” line, which was the perfect home for products by Maurizio Galante, Ilse Crawford and Maison Margiela. The guiding principle behind the choice of the editions lies not only in the values of the designers but also in the almost instinctive attraction towards a type of creativity that is unfailingly conveyed by the products themselves. The company plays its part by contributing its industrial know-how and acumen, thus ensuring that the products fully satisfy all needs in terms of functions and reproducibility, while also being astonishingly beautiful. In 2014, the company joined the AVM group, which brings together leading names associated with great design and the “Made in Italy” label from a number of different eras. The aim is to embark on a cultural and industrial initiative revolving around outstanding connoisseurs and enthusiasts who recognize value and share it, in the spirit of gallerists. The history, the people and their different trades, the products and the partnerships help to make Baleri Italia an authentic, youthful brand whose contemporary, innovative furnishings are always considered to be at the cutting edge in terms of design, functionality and simplicity. Consistency, versatility and a focus on feelings in furniture are the keys to grasping the message of the brand.
