Leisure with an Italian design of contemporary luxury
Contemporary design meets Italian craftsmanship in a technological and aesthetic triumph. Art is transformed into a unique emotion. Teckell is uniquely Italian. A design studio with a captivating history that is divided into five chapters Design technology, Exquisite Materials, Product Collections, Artesanal Experience, Core Values. Teckell perfectly combines high technology, avant-garde design and renowned Italian craftsmanship.
The will to always design something innovative, breaking the mold.
Being one step ahead, experimenting, unsettling, have always been pillars of the research of Gianfranco Barban, founder, together with his family, of the Teckell company. "We are not interested in conventional processing: it is the object that must adapt to the idea and intuition, not the other way around. Development must be continuous, and ideas for improving something often come from very different worlds and thoughts. This is why I am always looking for people and realities with an open mind like mine. I feed on this territory, because it provides me with experience and knowledge at three hundred and sixty degrees ".
Inspiration is hidden in everything, even in the overwhelming wind that stretches the windsurf sail, on a Sunday morning on Lake Maggiore. In fact, in collaboration with Marc Sadler, designer exhibited at Moma, Teckell has invented a new way of making the traditional T1 Billiard cloth, inspired by the system of windsurfing sails, which have pockets and sewn cutouts in which are inserted some slats to stiffen the canvas. In this way, a special 'pre-packaged' cloth is obtained, just like a sail.
Teckell's cutting-edge TAKTO Timepieces technology is roaring and snappy dynamism, like a Maserati speeding through the night. The Maserati engine and the mechanism of some TAKTO watches, in fact, are coated with DLC (Diamond Like Coating), a carbon-based paint that significantly reduces friction, thus ensuring high performance and maximum precision.
Teckell, on the occasion of Maison & Objet Miami, raised the stakes by creating a special edition of the Counterattack Soccer Table making it 'Underground'. An ambitious project in collaboration with VAPS, a young Street artist is part of Teckell's DNA.
Symbol of purity and innocence, fragility and delicacy, easy prey of time. These same characteristics inspired René Lalique in 1931 when he created the first crystal flower. The ephemeral beauty of the Anemone today becomes absolute and immutable over time, wearing the new Takto clock. Teckell's intuition and engineering experience, combined with the craftsmanship of Lalique glassmakers, create a light, almost fairytale timepiece with a refined design. Each Anemone is an authentic miniature masterpiece, which, like 80 years ago, blossoms from the glass and is hand-finished in every single detail.
The playing cloths of Teckell billiards are rigorously Simonis® 860, excellence in the production of these excellent worsted wool fabrics in 28 different colors. These special and resistant articles make the surface perfectly smooth and do not allow the formation of small knots that could somehow obstruct the game ball. Perfection in color: all that remains is to choose the one that best suits the personality of the environment. And nothing prevents you from changing your mind about color, because they are totally interchangeable, thanks to a 'plug-and-play' mechanism patented by Teckell.
Matter is the blank sheet of Design
The wood present in the Teckell Collections is not just any wood: it grows slowly in the damp woods around the Barban family carpentry and lovingly reworked in it. In fact, the professional history of Gianfranco Barban, founder of Teckell, is closely intertwined with that of his personal and family life: “I was born in the carpentry, practically. I grew up with an infinite number of materials and equipment at my disposal. I loved that place and the surrounding nature: I remember that in the summer, during the holidays, I wanted to stay at all costs to help my dad”.
That little grain of sand, amidst the rolling waves, did not expect to become a pearl of light, yet sometimes magic happens. It is from a dream, from the wisdom of glass masters and the highest technology that the Teckell Crystal is born. In which delicacy and resistance are in mysterious balance, where lights and shapes blend perfectly to give life, once again, to unique and special products.
“You see a block, think of the image: the image is inside, you just need to undress it" Michelangelo Buonarroti Marble, a material of ethereal beauty. It was chosen by Teckell to give a majestic sense to some of his excellent design pieces, making them real works of art. A material used by the greatest Italian masters of the Renaissance. Among the veins of the marble flow, inexorable, timeless charm, history, art and effort.
The light is reflected in a magical way by the Gold: everything is dressed in warm, sinuous and luxurious colors. A precious and timeless vortex that makes everything that surrounds it unique. Unrepeatable, like the perfect mechanism of the Vivace clock from the Takto collection, plated with 24k Gold or the sides engraved with a graphic pattern that recalls the ripples of the sea of the T2 Custom Billiards. Gold, a precious material that wins the almost impossible challenge of making the pieces of the Teckell collection even more special.
The pure light of the diamond turns into black splendor: DLC, Diamond Like Carbon. A material with infinite applications and facets, created to reduce friction and abrasion wear. Suffice it to say that, in the purest version, its application increases the life expectancy of a mechanism from 1 week to 85 years. DLC paint was chosen by Teckell for the finishing of Takto clock and clock mechanisms. The DLC material is also used in Formula 1, in NASCAR circuits and by the most innovative car manufacturers such as Maserati, but it is also applied in the medical field for the most advanced interventions.
The touch of Italian craftsmanship, unique and unrepeatable
Each Teckell object is like an organism in constant evolution: “We never stop improving our products, and thanks to the people who work with us we continue to find new ideas and solutions” explains Gianfranco Barban. In fact, the key to success is the strong trust that binds Teckell's innovation and the experience of master craftsmen: it is not a simple relationship with suppliers, it is a long history of friendship and mutual esteem.
"No great mind has ever existed without a pinch of madness" Aristotele And it is precisely this pinch of madness, combined with craftsmanship, that differentiates the master watchmakers of the Teckell sub-brand, TAKTO Timepieces. “Honestly, it's a bit crazy trying to make precision watchmaking with such a big object. But the result is surprising ”these are the words of Luigi, master watchmaker“ TAKTO is so precise that it can lose or gain only 1 second in a week, against the 6-7 per day of a high-precision wristwatch”.
Sit in the middle of nature, breathe deeply and observe, in silence. Gianfranco Barban tells how nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration: "Sometimes I wonder how nature would have designed the objects we surround ourselves with: would it have created them in plain colors or with stripes and squares? Surely not". Thus was born Surface, a project created in Gianfranco's BLab experimental laboratory. It is a system for coloring objects 'under the skin' with fluid colors, trying to take a cue from the shades of nature and its movements.
Gianfranco Barban tells us: “It is from research in different sectors that the new is born. For example, if I decided to create a chair together with a musician, a product with a completely different spirit and sensibility would be born compared to an article that a traditional designer could design ". For Teckell it is essential to be sure to offer something exceptional and innovative to the market. The keywords are: research, passion, ideas and fusion of different contexts
Made by Master Craftsman. The true knowledge of experience to create modern masterpieces. Each piece of Teckell design, in fact, is created by artisan hands crimped with knowledge. Hands that have learned the passion of a trade from a master, a master craftsman who in turn was trained by another master. Entire generations of artisans who cut crystal, carve wood and shape metal to make each piece of the Teckell Collection unique. The human touch that only artisan knowledge, and not machines, can confer.
The values of the company, the family, ethics and attention to people. Made in Italy is a philosophy of life that enhances quality, craftsmanship and boundless creativity. And now let's move our gaze to the north, on the border with Switzerland, a step away from the international capital Milan. The timeless beauty of Northern Italy, in fact, inspires Teckell every day: for the drama of the mountains that stand out against the cobalt sky, for the still but always moving body of water of the lakes, for the green of nature that laps and flatters the little ones centers on the outskirts of Milan. The cold and crisp air of the forest mixes with the scent of coffee and aftershave, so begins a day of an Italian master craftsman and from these images every day, new Teckell projects are born.
“I always say: pay no attention to the effort you make to achieve excellence. If you do something you have to do it well. Otherwise it's not worth it”. Gianfranco Barban – Teckell This is how excellence is born: from the desire to do things right. Sleepless nights and Sundays spent at work suddenly become weightless as soon as the gaze, after so much effort, lands on a perfect Teckell product.
Nothing is more valuable to Teckell than giving a smile, especially if the eyes of a child are smiling. In fact, for Teckell, philanthropy is the basis of the company philosophy and it is precisely for this reason that he is always enthusiastic about actively participating in charitable initiatives. As for the Gala 'For a child's smile' in which Teckell made available the Cristallino Table Football or the precious fundraising for Cesvi.
Curiosity is the way to innovation. And curiosity has always distinguished Gianfranco Barban, as he remembers his brother Giuliano with a smile: “Since childhood, Gianfranco had an obsession with discovering what was inside the objects. This is why no one ever gave him toys: he took them and opened them immediately ”. In fact, the desire to go beyond the surface has always been in the spirit of Teckell, to go straight to the heart of ideas and to have the ambition to revisit the great classics, such as table football and billiards or the rediscovery essential modernity of pendulum clocks.
One of Teckell's many challenges is to propose a product of excellence, but at the same time very trendy. Products that lend themselves to #minimaldesign environments, that integrate into a #contemporaryclassic context and that are perfect in a #exclusive style home. Light and decisive lines, details and finishes that make the difference. Like the gold-plated sides and the interchangeable playing cloths of the billiards, like the precious finishes of the men and knobs of the football tables and again like the impeccable gears of the Takto clocks.
Teckell's philosophy is based on the desire to do better every day than in the previous one. A philosophy of life and work that leads to the continuous search for new materials, tactile and visual experiences, to the rediscovery of the most authentic harmony of forms. The same harmony that we can find, for example, in the shape and light lines of the 90° Minuto frame, in solid wood, from the Teckell Calcio Balilla collection.
