Decò

Born from the creative genius of Napoleone Martinuzzi, the great master of glass art as well as art director of the Venini brand from 1925 to 1931, Dèco is one of the most iconic vases of the brand. Characterised by a dynamic series of rings that are replicated, like water ripples, the vase is in Murano glass, made with the opaline technique.

This ancient technique is linked to the processing of the lattimo, a white opal glass created in Murano around the half of the sixteenth century to mimic the first ceramics which were very fashionable at the time in Europe, by juxtaposing and “casing” the lattimo glass with one or multiple thin transparent and coloured glasses, giving rise to wonderful objects with intense and bright colours.
