The Most Illustrious Collection of the design masters of Elena Salmistraro for Bosa begins with: Achille Castiglioni, for whom the centenary of his birth was celebrated in 2018, and continues with Riccardo Dalisi, Michele De Lucchi and Alessandro Mendini.

"Most Illustrious. It is a gift to those people that, maybe unknowingly, have given so much to my perception of design. Their commitment and their works have modelled and educated my vision and my taste; as truthful masters, they had no need to introduce themselves, to speak or to tell their ideas to stand out; the energy of their creations was sufficient to make me understand who they really were and what was their vision, proving that all designers are what they create, in the end. In the years 1952-1953 deals with the post-war reconstruction of the Palazzo Della Permanente in Milan. In 1956 he was one of the founders of ADI, the Industrial Design Association.
In 1969 Castiglioni obtained the Free Teaching in "Artistic Design for Industry" at the Ministry of Education: he held the chair of professor of "Industrial Design" at the Faculty of Architecture of Turin until 1980 and then in Milan until 1993.
Castiglioni's works includes the Mezzadro chair, the Sella chair (1957), the Sanluca armchair (1959), the Tubino desk lamp (1951), the Luminator floor lamp (1955), the Arco floor lamp (1962) produced by Flos, the Taccia table lamp (1962), the Allunaggio seat (1962), the Toio floor lamp.
Fourteen of his principal works are present at the MoMA in New York; The MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), with the works of Achille Castiglioni, has created in Manhattan the largest retrospective ever dedicated to an Italian designer.
In addition to the American museum other important galleries exhibit his works including: the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Kunstgewerbe Museum in Zurich, the Staatliches Museum fur Angewandte Kunst in Munich, the Museum of Design in Prato, the Uneleckoprumyslove in Prague, l 'Israel Museum in Jerusalem, The Denver Art Museum, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Angewandte Kunst Museum in Hamburg and Cologne.
Among the companies that benefited from the work of Achille Castiglioni (also paired with his brother Pier Giacomo) for their serial productions are: Alessi, Zanotta, Ideal Standard, Kartell, Lancia, Flos, Siemens, Bernini, Knoll, Poggi , Italtel, Longoni, Nagano, Omsa, Phonola, Teorema and Arflex.
Achille Castiglioni died on December 2, 2002, at the age of 84, following a fall in his studio in Milan. His body rests in the abbey of Chiaravalle.
